Mom Adds Another Year – Happy Birthday Gigi!
As of today, mom, a.k.a. Gigi, turned 64 years old! Yes, the oldest in our family, even beating dad, and kicking strong, celebrating another year. I can’t believe mom dates all the way back to 1949, October 26th to be exact. Mom, our fiery redhead, is the oldest, beating out Uncle Denny by a few years, I think five.
So pondering the days all the way back then, what was going on in October of 1949, besides mom making her first appearance?
First of all Harry Truman was president, who signed the Mutual Defense Assistance Act (for NATO) on the 6th and then increased minimum wage from $0.40 to $o.75 on October 26th.
That Lucky Old Sun by Frankie Laine was the number one song according to Billboard Magazine, from October into part of November. The Lone Ranger was also making its debut.
And this little found snip of world news, is just for mom, our half English and half Polish decent. On October 22, 1949, two hundred were killed in a train derailment near Nowy Dwor, Poland. Hope none of our family was involved.
Happy Birthday Mom!!

Please tell your mom happy birthday from us!
I will certainly do so! Thank you!
